January 3, 1990. My first baby girl was born at 11:27 a.m. Yes, this is one of those sappy, depressing posts, so move on, if necessary.

You know when you have babies or little kids and you are complaining about how hard it is and how tired you are and so on and so on.....and people that have been there always say: "Enjoy it - it will be over before you know it." I don't know about you, but I always thought: "Yeah, right. I can't wait until this kid is pooping on the toilet and wiping her own ass." I'm sentimental like that.

Well, now my baby is 17 and I am sitting here thinking, holy shit, where in the hell did the time go? Because I am the biggest pessimist there is, I also sit here and think about all the shit I did wrong and all the mistakes I made. I'm just a positive thinker like that. As I stated before, we are having a few issues with her right now. Nothing too serious, just some emotional/stress/anxiety stuff for which I am thankful because it could be drugs/alcohol/pregnancy, so we feel lucky.

The thought of her leaving next year for college is almost too much for me to take. Not having her here in the house will be a huge adjustment for all of us.

So, when I think back to January 3, 1990 at 11:27 a.m. when that little girl came out of my stomach (cesarean section b/c she was coming out butt first - that should have told me of things to come right there!)and she was all pink and covered in cream cheese, so tiny, so beautiful.....and now I look at this young woman, making decisions about the rest of her life, having a job, making plans......and I become one of those people that used to drive me crazy.

Hold on to it for as long as you can, believe me, it goes so fast.
