It's that time of year, isn't it?

Our family chops down our own Christmas tree every year. For the last 4 years, we have only had to go out our front door, into our 2 acres of pine trees, find the right one and start chopping. However, this year my husband and I tracked out there to scout out any possibilities and there were none! All the trees were pretty big and the small ones were too small, so we headed down the road to the nearest tree farm.

If you can believe it, they sell their trees for $15 - ANY SIZE. They had great trees and it didn't take us long to find one and did I mention - $15?? The damn Boy Scout trees at the grocery store, pre-cut, are like $40!! Nuts. Anyway, we got a good one - a 9 footer and tonight is the night for decorating.

Alyson's friend Tommy came along for the fun - his family has a pre-lit, fake tree and he misses out on all the freezing your ass off, arguing over who is going to make the final decision ("you got to pick last year!"; "this is not fair, I dont' like that one"; "I'm freezing, can we go?"), you know, all the good times of a good tradition.

Of course, the best part if when John and I try to drag this sucker into the house, attempt to get it in the stand, argue over who is going to hold it while the other one screws it into the stand, and say loving things to each other when we are straightening it for the 11 millionth time. God, I love traditions.

Behold the pictures of our family enjoying this great tradition......
The decorating pictures will come tomorrow, or maybe even tonight if I have the
energy.

i hope we have a white christmas here ...your town looks so pretty. its so annoying that kids have to hate and complain on everything they do...only to look back and LOVE IT ALL as adults. Hopefully you'll still be around to here them share stories with glowing and rose tints.

$15 for any size tree is a bargain. Looks like a fun time was had by all.
Happy holidays.

This post puts me in the spirit. $15 for a tree. Jeez, we have to pay $75 to $80. You have a lovey family.

Mister would be so envious. He took Drama Queen to Home Depot and paid $25 for our 7 foot'ish tree. Luckily no freezing b/c it was nearly 70 degrees out.
