How the Other Half Lives

Boy, I have really fucked up this NaBloPoMo thing, haven't I? Whose idea was it to have this thing in November? Like that matters, they could have it in January and I'd still screw it up.

Anyway, as most of you know, we have been in Branson visiting my dad. Now, I haven't ever mentioned my dad here I don't think. We have an odd but close relationship in that he raised me after my parents were divorced, mostly b/c I was absolutely NOT close with my mom, something we are still working on. My dad is a complicated guy, troubled childhood, extremely intelligent, very self-centered and how do I put this gently.......wealthy.

Needless to say, our vacation has been grand and kind of like staying in a 5 star resort! Here are a few pictures of his home in Branson that overlooks Tablerock Lake.

He and my stepmom are very generous and really show us a great time when we make the trip to see them. The hard thing for me is trying to keep my kids grounded (seems to be an obsession with me, huh?) and remind them that there are things that are way more important that having a lot of $$, however, when you are living in the lap of luxury, it's easy to forget that! If you're not careful, it's easy to fall into the money trap. I guess what I'm trying to say is, we've had a great time, but it is time to go home. We are heading to Illinois with my brother tomorrow, spending the night with my mom and then heading back to Cheeseland. I'm ready.

Even though it's easy to get used to how the other half lives, I'm missing the farm and our simple life.

However, if I could find a way to fit this bathroom and shower into my suitcase, I'd be a happy girl.

OK I would sell my soul to satan to take a bath in that tub. Have mercy. You didn't tell me you were related to Donald Trump. Thanks for sharing those amazing photos.

1. WoWzErS on the view from tub.

2. you're a farmer so I thought I might enlist your help.

The USDA is considering regulations on leafy greens that would harm sustainable farmers. You can comment on this at www.regulations.gov. Click on "All documents with an open comment period," then "Handling regulations..." - the third one down. It tells you what to do after that. I just copied some language from this press release into my comment - it took maybe two minutes.

If you want more info, please email me at smadaakkire at yahoo dot com. Do forward this to other farmers and earth lovers.

peace.

Hope you make it hope safe and sound. That bathroom is the size of my bedroom. I could do some serious relaxing in a tub like that!

Thanks for the comments, ladies. Yes, if we all could only have that tub - wow - all life's problems.......well, maybe not ALL life's problems, anyway.

Erikka - thanks for the 'heads-up' and I'll head right over and put in my .02.

Thanks again!
