So much to do, so little time.....

This picture explains how I feel today. Granted, I had a long day of boating and partaking in the drink when this picture was taken, thanks Brian! But it shows what I would like to be doing right now instead of the 5 gazillion things that need to be done.

We are leaving town tomorrow for Madison for the State golf tournament and won't return until Tuesday. On the way down we are dropping both kids at various places since they really have no interest in walking around for 36 holes of golf watching their sister. Instead, one will go to grandma's and be spoiled rotten and come home needing retraining and the other will go to her best friends' house and OD on 'girl-time' with her buddy.

Then hubby and I will get to actually be in each other's company alone, be able to start and finish a complete thought without being interrupted, be able to take part in all the alone-time games, if you know what I mean and generally get to relax and have a good time. Not that my kids aren't a good time, mind you.....but, you know what I mean.

Of course instead of doing the mountain of laundry that is awaiting me in the laundry room, packing for 4 people, making arrangements for who is going to feed my various animals and such, I am sitting on my ass on this rainy, sleepy morning and blogging......good plan. John will come home to nothing being done and that will start our weekend off on the right foot!

Tonight is all the Homecoming hoopla - parade, football game, dance, etc.....so the oldest one who needs to be up bright and early and ready to play golf will be fun, to say the least. She takes after her mother in that she has nothing packed and no laundry done, thata girl!

On a completely unrelated note (my mind is a jumble) we had the most amazing dinner last night and all of it came from our little farm here. We roasted one of our broiler chickens, had mashed potatoes from the garden (we still haven't dug all the potatoes - what was I thinking planting all those?), steamed cabbage and an awesome salad that included 3 different types of grees, onions, carrots and swiss chard with feta cheese. Okay, the feta didn't come from us, but soon the dairy goats will arrive and then I will be a cheese-making machine!

The fall is my favorite time on the farm, not as many bugs, not too hot, beautiful fall colors and the last of the fresh produce.....perfect.

Have a great weekend and send thoughts of low golf scores and good weather!

Anytime, Girl!! We would love to cook you a meal fresh out of the garden. And if you make a trip to Wisconsin, you know you have to eat some cheese curds, Packer brats (brats with jalapenos and cheese inside) and drink Leinenkugels beer!!

You name the date.
