Just shy of 4 months since the last post........hmmmm

After reading my last post on May 13th, I took a deep breath. Boy, I sounded excited, didn't I? All gung-ho and a plantin' fool. Well the last 3 months have taken their toll and that excitement has waned a little.

This was one of the worst drought years on record for our area of Wisconsin. We went 6+ weeks with no rain and temps in the 90s. Fun, fun for a vegetable & flower operation! We plugged along for the summer doing the best we could and trying to keep all the customers happy. Lucky for us, we have great members who were living through the drought with us and understood. The CSA is supposed to run through the 2nd week of October, but we are looking at this being our last week. The plants are as exhausted as we are and ready for Fall/Winter.

Jesus, I never thought I would say that!

This summer has also been a time for me to re-evaluate and decide just what the hell I want to do with this life. I love what I do, but I can't take many more summers like this one. Maybe farming isn't my calling.

For now, the only decision I'm making is to 'cut back'. Next year we are going to scale back and take some time to enjoy our life out here on the farm instead of working our asses into the ground.

I never thought going back to housework, laundry, making dinner and picking up the kids shit would sound appealing, but it does.

So, it will be a process and I'm sure I'll change my mind about a million times over the winter on how to proceed, but there are changes afoot, that's for sure.

The only other news around here is that I finally broke down and bought my camera that I've been wanting - the Nikon D40. I originally wanted the D70, but they came out with this smaller, newer version and I love it! I'm still trying to get over the guilt of what it cost (!!), but the more I use it, the less guilty I feel. I'm worth it, right?? Of course, I am.

As soon as I learn how to post pictures or open a flickr account and all that shit that is waaaay over my illiterate computer head, I'll show you what's up around here.

It feels good to be back.

Hi! You're back! Yay! How are you. Sounds like you had a rough summer, I'm sorry.

Love the new look of your blog. And spending $$ on yourself now & then is nothing to feel guilty about!

Can't wait to read your posts.

Hey, Cece!! You are so sweet, I can't believe you still check in when I'm such a slob about posting! Yes, I feel rejuvenated and trying not to dwell on failures - something I struggle with.

Even though I haven't been posting much, I have been consistently reading your blog! You are one of the busiest people! I'm sorry to hear you and Mister are having a few struggles, but I'm sure you two will find your way through. Lord knows my hubby and I have struggled - but just keep pushing on. Relationships can really suck, but they have their moments of greatness too, right?

I know you have asked about pictures in the past and I'm finally trying to get my shit together and learn about how it all works!

Thanks again for checking in and I look forward to us keeping in touch more.
