Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there! Hope you all felt loved and cared for on this day.

My husband John likes to joke that 'everyday is mother's day around here' - haha - isn't he cute? But they did give me the royal treatment today. The typical, coffee in bed and a bagel with LOTS of cream cheese, the cute cards that always make me tear up and them trying to get me to relax and not move or do any kind of work. Of course, this is maddening for me as the work I do is actually what I love - so I don't think of it as 'work' - and love doing it.

After we went out for a great lunch at the restaurant where our oldest daughter, Alyson works, we came home and out to the gardens I went. Maddie was mad at me and said that I shouldn't be working - but there was work to be done and ........well, ditto of what I said above.

The main goal today was to reinforce the pig's fence. She has learned how to get out and even how to raise her sliding door to get out of the barn. Someone told me that pigs were very smart and they were right. Her latest trick is that as soon as she sees me, she runs over to the fence and lies down on her side so I will scratch her belly. John just walks away shaking his head and mumbling to himself about how 'there is no way I am going to be able to butcher this pig.' Who knows, I feel like I will be able to - but maybe I'm fooling myself. All I know is that she is pretty fun right now. A few people have asked for pictures of the pig and I'm working on that - as soon as I have two minutes to sit down and figure out how to do it - I will get right on it.

We are busy planting our little asses off - the weather is being soooo kind, but we know it could change at any minute. Our new employee, John (God, another John) is working out well and I am amazed at what just one more pair of hands can accomplish - it is great!

Sorry there isn't anything truly exciting to talk about - but literally my life right now consists of planting vegetables and flowers and not much more! Sad, I know.

Now, I'm going to take the time to head on over to your blogs to see what is exciting in your lives!

Have a good one out there Mothers!

Hi Cece! Thank you for checking in - yes, I'm still alive and buried in the garden! My blog dies a slow death this time of year. We are drowning in vegetables and flowers and making a lot of people happy by feeding them - it is a good life.

I hope to have a small bit of extra time soon - maybe I'll even find some time to post something.

I still read your blog every morning before I head outside - just to stay in the 'loop'. Thanks again for checking in.
