Three days of sun, fun and friends, that's how we celebrated our 2008 Fourth of July. We just got back today from our long weekend and for the 4th year in a row, we had a fantastic time. Unbelievably, for the past 4 years, the weather has been perfect. No rain, not too hot, but with nice cool nights that require sweatshirts, jeans and bonfires, which of course, requires smores!
The women all have large blow-up chairs that sit in the water and this is pretty much where our butts stay for the entire 3 days. But who takes care of our kids, you ask? Our husbands, of course. The husbands take care of the kids, give them rides on the pontoon, pull them in the tubes and on water skiis behind the ski boat and even bring us a new drink every now and then. Yes, we do realize how spoiled we are and we appreciate it. Here's a glimpse of our luxury:
The guys standing around just waiting to serve us:)
The kids getting ready to tube for the eleventy-millionth time.
Possibly the cutest baby on earth - but since she isn't mine, I can't show her face. Just picture angels flying around with an opera playing in the background. That's her.
The days end with the kids all sitting around the fire, playing ghost in the graveyard, flashlight tag and hide-and-seek before heading off to the tents, and the parents end up staying up all night playing cards and laughing ourselves sick.
We come home Sunday, sunburned (no matter how much sunscreen we've bathed in), tired and needing a day to recover - even the kids!
Memories we will all have for a lifetime.
Hope you all had a safe, fun and memory-making holiday. Now, I need to go take another nap.

That sounds like an uh-may-zing weekend!!!
Lovely day! Look at all that sunshine!
That sounds like a GREAT weekend! Did you go with other families you are friends with?
Our long weekend rolled on into Monday which was supposed to be our recovery day... so I think today I was a little loopy and fighting off the need for a nap.
Oh, and I hear ya on the sunscreen. Didn't matter how often... it still got us too!
Looks like an awesome 4th!!
Love your music today - Happy July!
