Without going into the dirty details, I survived my mother's visit and even without getting blind drunk! Progress.
Not much time to post anything too lengthy, but this was quite a day of accomplishments, so here is the rundown of what happened around here:
1. did yoga; walked 2 miles (did I mention I was training for a 1/2 marathon walk? In my spare time? Yeah. Nuts.)
2. did animal chores - fed/watered sheep, fed/watered chickens, opened the baby chicken coop (new chicks) and fed/watered them.
3. opened both greenhouses, turned on the fans and watered
4. ate breakfast (did I mention I'm on a 1500 calorie a day routine? Part of the training and just to lose a little bit of my large ass - 10 lbs. so far)
5. cleaned up the kitchen and did 1 load of laundry (laundry really suffers around here during the farming season - it's every girl for herself and my husband is completely on his own)
6. started planting the rest of the plants - today I planted approximately 125 plants - tomatoes, peppers, parsley, celery, thyme, basil, cauliflower, eggplant and cucumbers. This leaves approximately 100 left to do tomorrow.
7. weeded 4 garden rows
8. planted 4 rows of beans
9. harvested 3 different varieties of lettuce, pak choi, spinach, radishes, beets, snap peas and rapini for the CSA deliveries tomorrow morning
10. ordered the cake for Alyson's graduation party
11. hunted for punch recipes for the party (hey - any suggestions??)
12. came in to take a looong hot shower and on my way into the house, noticed some commotion over by the bee hive. My hive was swarming, which means the colony had broken in two and one of the halves were taking off to find a new hive. Great. Details of this to follow.
13. took a long hot shower.
14. cleaned the kitchen (again), loaded the dishwasher.
15. made stir fry with asian noodles.
16. started laundry load #2
17. said good-bye to my husband as he is working 3rd shift for a couple of weeks (yeah! sleep with no one snoring.)
18. wrote this post.
How's that for trying to stuff a lot of shit into one day?? Yeah, my body is feeling it too.
I'm working on the post about the bee swarm with accompanying video. Unreal.
With that, folks, I'm on my way to beddie-bye and will probably not move until tomorrow morning.
Have a great night!

you have got to get some farm help girl! How about woofers? Do you know about this? Woof is an organization that matches volunteers who want to learn organic farming with farms. We have gotten some great people this way. Only thing is, you usually have to put them up and feed them but right now we have someone who didn't need room and board.
I am writing about bees in my book! Didn't intend it - it just happened. I look forward to your video.
Wow, Angie. I can see why you have gone to bed. You know you've been hitched for a while when you rejoice over scoring snoreless sleep. Enjoy.
Wow! You are one crazy busy lady!! I'm amazed and impressed with all you did just today!
I admit to waiting with great anticipation for the swarming post. I've been totally fascinated by the bee-related posts I've been seeing lately!
That's crazy, sounds a lot like my days. I feel like I hit the ground running on my days off and work till blogging time 9-10ish. There is just so much to do this time of year. How far is a half marathon walk..15mi? I
ran a 5 k last year and was proud of that, hee, hee.
Way to go!! Maybe a good thing hubby is on 3rd shift, since you are so busy, you can really SLEEP at night :-D
I had two kick-ass days last week with cleaning windows/blinds/ curtains/carpets, but nothing compared to your day! Wow! Kudos!!
Angie, you really like to take on as much of life as possible, all at the same time! you go girl! good luck in your training process.
And I thought I was a pro at multi-tasking! You totally win.
Ok let's see:
1) I woke up before noon
2) goofed off on the computer
3) thoght about everything I need to do
4) Um, yeah your way ahead of me....
After reading this, I have no excuses for not posting this last two weeks. WTF? I was spent after moving two Stargazer lilies and planting three Veronica. You are my role model. Also-dying to hear about the bees!
Wow - good for you, the ten pounds and all this in a single day!
You rock. Hope its all going well.
