Finally, after 2 days of trying to recover, a post.
The conference was a success, many books were sold, Board members happy - all is good with the world of organics. The highlight of my trip? Getting to meet a long-time 'idol' so to speak. Michael Ableman - I have read all his books and really admire what he has accomplished. He was one of our Keynote Speakers and he just wrote a new book - "Fields of Plenty" - we handled his book signings. What a genuine, sincere guy. His Keynote was incredibly inspiring and just what we needed to hear to 'gear up' for the upcoming season - reminding us why we do what we do.
This trip is always exhausting - it takes at least 2 days of nothing to recover. If only we could afford 2 days of nothing! The greenhouse is fired up and the transplants will be started today. All the planning, maps, notes, etc. have been drug out and we are trying to make heads or tails out of what we will be doing and when.
The chicken order has to be ready in the next few days too - never ending.
Thanks to Lucy, over at Boulder Belt Farm - www.boulderbeltfarm.blogspot.com - she posted the plans for their hoophouses and we will be starting on those soon.
The kids are running constantly as usual, which makes getting anything accomplished difficult, but we plug on.
There isn't much to talk about, especially if you aren't the 'farming type', b/c that is consuming all our time right now. Let's all keep thinking SPRING - it can't get here soon enough for me!
